The Kuwait Concours d’Elegance 2015 was held February 11-14 at Marina Crescent by the Arabian Gulf in Kuwait City. After a brief hiatus, the Kuwait Concours returned in 2015 under the patronage of the His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jabir Al-Sabah and organized by the Kuwait Historical, Vintage and Classic Cars Museum.
This year’s Concours saw a field of approximately 100 classic cars from the early stages of the automotive industry through the bespoke cars of the mid-1970s as the focal point of the show.Notable entrants at the 2015 Kuwait Concours included the 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Aerolithe Electron Coupe; 1933 Invicta S-type 4.5 Litre Low Chassis; 1968 Bizzarrini 5300 SI Spider Targa; 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4; 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider; 1953 Ferrari 625 TF Vignale Spider; 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 S; 1970 Lancia Stratos HF Zero and the wonderful 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe.
The Kuwait Concours d’Elegance is judged in the Italian tradition, with a selection of guest judges that were nearly as impressive as the cars being evaluated, headed by Chief Judge Leonardo Fioravanti, designer of the Ferrari Daytona, 288 GTO, 308 GTB and F40, among others. Other notable judges included Shiro Nakamura, Chief Creative Officer of Nissan; Marek Reichman, Director of Design for Aston Martin; Dr. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin; Horst Bruning, president of FIVA; Sandra Button, Executive Director of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance; and Andrea Zagato, current head of Coachwork Zagato.
Best of show at the Kuwait Concours d’Elegance 2015 was awarded to the 1965 Lamborghini 350 GTS Spider. Bodied by Carrozzeria Touring, this prototype model made its debut on the Lamborghini stand at the 1965 Turin Auto Show. Other notable winners included the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (Best European Car) and 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 “Goldie” (Best Restored Car).

Similar to 2011 and 2012, Senior Photographer Tim Scott also documented the Kuwait Concours d’Elegance 2015 with the following spectacular images of the vehicles on display against the backdrop of Marina Crescent in Kuwait City. We split up Tim’s pictures into two galleries. The first gallery starting below features our favorite images, all displayed in the full-width view of Sports Car Digest, while the second gallery and the full results can be found on the last page of the article and gives a comprehensive view of all the photographs. Best Muscle Car was a 1972 GSX by Buick
Great gallery but some cars are missing from the parade plz upload if possible
We’ve uploaded another batch of images, including the Buick GSX
Thx but I was looking for a Packard from Jordan owned by the late king Hussein
Thank you guys for the addition. And I salute you for trying to keep up with these people. I personally didn’t request any pictures of the GSX, but it was great having it featured here. Thanks again.
Unreal shots Tim, such elegance.
Goldie is amazing the actual 1958 Earls Court Show car.
WOW. Kuwait is a little bit too far off the beaten track for me to visit this Concours. Your photo of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe is startling in it’s similarity to the 1954 Ferrari 375MM Scaglietti Berlinetta (a spectacular one off) that I saw when I visited the UK’s Concours of Elegance at St James in 2013. Never noticed this before. Shame your comments system doesn’t permit the uploading of pictures or else I would have added my picture for comparison. Fine examples from the glorious dying days of coachbuilding. I’m still holding my breath ’til I’m fortunate enough to see the Aerolithe recreation…
SOME OF THE PARTICIPATING CARS ARE NOT ON THIS PHOTOSHOOT. MUST NOT LIKE THE OLDER CARS!! AND THERE WHERE 62 CARS IN THIS CONCOURS
Must not like the older cars??!! Clearly “Anonymous” isn’t a Sports Car Digest reader…
Furthermore, did you look at the same gallery as I did? There was a healthy does of pre-war cars, to boot.
Great job as always guys!
I kinda agree. Plenty missing. Most of the muscle cars aren’t there, especially from the parade. there should be at least a pic of the winning cars during the parade.
It’s a wonderful selection. There will always be those who aren’t satisfied.
1935 Bugatti Type 57 (no awards)= 26 pictures
1965 Lamborghini 350GTS (Best of Show)= 9 pictures
Hmmmm….
Do you realize how ridiculously ungrateful you all appear when complaining about stunning images that are made available to us for free? It’s sad, but I suppose indicative of the times where everyone is a hero (while living in the basement of their parent’s house).
Well Said Mr. Marcus. Sadly sometimes we get so carried away looking at the trees – we fail to consider the forest. I’ve been guilty of this myself a time or two, so your reminder is well timed.
“1935 Bugatti Type 57 (no awards)= 26 pictures”
It’s a replica.
great pics, thank you for the coverage
WOW – Tim Scott!! Just WOW! What a portfolio of stunning automotive photography. You simply out-did yourself with this one… and that’s saying a lot.
Hello Tim
Manu thanks for the great shots of the atmosphere where we brought period music with our Invicta.
Hi Hans – it was great to see the pleasure the whole experience was giving you ! Lovely car too.
Regarding the Lamborghini 350 GTS, can you provide the chassis number ? If it is not GTX 0325 or 0328, it is a conversion which is what I expect. I owned 0328 for ove r 10 years in Spain and sold the car in 1982 to the Qatar royal family. There are several conversions being shown around the world but only the chassis numbers I mention are the original Spiders (I have a factory letter that proves this).
It’s not a conversion. Otherwise it won’t be in a Concour.
Sorry Anon very wrong , I have seen many ” conversions ” at concours , even Pebble Beach , eg D type Jaguars ” converted ” to XkSS Ferrari 250 GTO converted to a Bread van and many cars with supercharge conversions from new ( Bugatti’s Alfa’s Bentleys ) ! do I need to go on ?
But they don’t go home with Best of Show. Besides, the owners are know for obtaining one of one’s (in this case of two) cars, especially Lamborghinis. So no, it’s not a conversion.
Ok , I think we are on different subjects here , but thanks for your thoughts ,
TVC15 Bristol England
glad to see they are enjoying our oil money..
Then Stop buying oil 🙂
Beautiful pictures of spectacular cars. Makes me sick to see them all being sold off to the highest bidders way over there, taken away from us forever probably.
Highest bidders? Dude it’s a concours, not an auction
highest bidders !!!……what joke?….unless John thinks it is a Bazaar
it’s a shame so many cars are missing
Highest Bidder , I don’t think so ! but if It was an Auction I would like to buy that 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe …. It would look great next to my Mona Lisa
CongratulationsTim, wonderful photos and gorgeous cars! – Be aware somebody is using, I suppose “unauthorised” photos of the Bizzarrini in his listing on eBay:
