The Assi Club has announced the dates for the 10th Anniversary of Le Mitiche Sport A Bassano which will be June, 2004. To celebrate what many historic car enthusiasts consider to be the “best historic touring event anywhere,” the British-based Benjafields Racing Club is sending a team of vintage Bentleys to contest the rally centered on Bassano del Grappa.
The Bentley Team so far includes four Blower Bentleys, two 41⁄2-Liter cars, a 61⁄2 Le Mans, three Speed Sixes, an 8-Liter Le Mans and a 3/41⁄2. While the largest proportion of the entry comprises Italian “barchettas,” the much bigger Bentleys will be an amazing sight as the field travels through the southern Dolomites on the two day regularity run. The chosen roads provide magnificent scenery as the route winds north to Cortina and then west to Canazei before heading south again back to Marostica and Bassano. In 2003, there were also fantastic night races in the centre of Vicenza.
The field will again see a spectacular turnout of Ferraris, Maseratis, OSCAs, Stanguellinis and Alfa Romeos, along with a number of rare two-seaters only seen in Italian events.
La Mitiche is organized by the ASSI Club under Danilo and Renato Calmonte. For information: info@assiclub.com
