Though plagued with a variety of problems that ultimately proved too much for the fledgling Canadian company to weather, Bricklin did construct 2,854 examples of the SV-1 sports car.
Malcolm Bricklin has more balls than a Christmas tree. Charismatic and effervescent, his personality bubbles over with enthusiasm for his next project, sometimes at the cost of his present project. Jonathan Bricklin, Malcolm’s son said it best: “My father started 30 companies and about half of them made it.” His drive to succeed is unquenchable, and while Malcolm Bricklin has his detractors, one could not disagree with the drive he exhibits in attempting what seems the impossible. Perhaps his drive to go where others fear to tread is what makes him the exemplar of the entrepreneur. John Wright caught up with this perpetual man in motion just before going in to watch the documentary titled “Entrepreneur” his son made of his father’s life.
