Dee Ann Andretti, wife of Formula One World Champion and Indy 500 winner Mario Andretti, has passed away at the age 76. Dee Ann Andretti suffered a massive heart attack several weeks ago and sadly lost her battle on Tuesday.
Born Dee Ann Hoch, she met Andretti while teaching him English in a Nazareth, Pennsylvania school. The two would go on to marry shortly thereafter on November 25, 1961. Dee Ann would accompany Mario to most of his early races until the couple started having children, at which time she became an infrequent visitor to the track. The Andrettis would go on to have three children, sons Michael and Jeff, and a daughter Barbie.
To Mario and all the Andrettis, Vintage Road & Racecar extend their deepest sympathies.
