The 2013 running of the famed Mille Miglia rally took place 16-19 May in Italy on the historic roads from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia. A field of 415 classic cars built between 1927 and 1957 challenged each other and themselves in the modern revival. Far more than a historic automotive rally, the Mille Miglia Storica is a virtual step back to the era of 1927 to 1957 when these racing cars roared across the Italian countryside and towns at the hands of such greats as Tazio Nuvolari, Giannino Marzotto, Clemente Biondetti, Rudolf Caracciola, Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss.
Given the strong field of 415 historic cars at the 2013 Mille Miglia, we ended up with not enough room (or time) to post all of the images provided by Julien Mahiels in our original story. Therefore, in addition to Julien’s “Results and Picture Gallery“, we offer the following gallery of images that are too good to not share. We split up the additional 130 pictures into two galleries. The first gallery starting below features our favorite 80 images, all displayed in the full-width view of our website, while the second gallery can be found on the last page of the article and gives a comprehensive view of all the photographs. JUST TOP!!!!
Julien – amazing photos – I was there and these are great!
Really nice photos done by a professional. But I wish he wouldn’t tilt the camera. Tilting has it’s uses, but like all special effects, should be used sparingly. It detracts from the car which we want to see, and diverts viewer attention to the creativeness of the photographer, which we don’t.
