From June 24–October 29, 2006, some of the finest examples of the model maker’s craft will be on display at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, in Stamford, CT, as part of a new exhibit entitled “Built to Scale: Auto, Plane & Boat Model Masterpieces.”
Co-curated by well-known builders Marshall Buck and Micky Graham, the exhibit will highlight a number of stunning transportation pieces including an incredibly detailed, scratch-built Maserati Birdcage with accurate frame, a model of the one-off Bugatti Speed Record plane, as well as a Ferrari-powered hydroplane boat and an 18-foot recreation of the Titanic. In addition to these and other models, there will also be an accompanying display and explanation of the intricate, painstaking, and intriguing process of how these amazing objects are created.
