Ford Mustang enthusiasts from around the world are expected to attend September’s 40th Anniversary celebration of the Mustang Club of America at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The event will take place September 1–4 and feature an exciting lineup of performance cars and track events, as well as a Night at the Museum, the world’s longest Mustang Parade, Saturday night’s MCA Banquet and more.
Indianapolis is the ideal setting for this celebration since the original Mustang was the pace car for the 1964 Indy 500 (above, Dave Friedman photo courtesy of the Henry Ford Museum), just weeks after its stunning world debut.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate the 40th anniversary of MCA at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said Mustang Club President Jeff Mays. “This MCA celebration will be unbelievable as we honor four decades of our club’s history. Enthusiasts from across the globe are planning to attend our larger-than-life event, as we share personal stories about Ford’s legendary pony car.”
In 1976, 30 Mustang enthusiasts responded to an Atlanta newspaper ad providing the details of a meeting on April 11, 1976 at the Antique Car Museum in Stone Mountain, Georgia. That first meeting of the Mustang Club of America had 13 Mustangs on hand, while the 40th Anniversary, is expected to have more than 2,000 Mustangs in attendance. The club presently boasts more than 13,000 members, with nearly 200 chapters worldwide. Although details continue to be finalized, continuously updated information is available on both a special website, http://www.mca40th.com/ and at the MCA website, http://www.mustang.org/.
