Could we soon see a return of the famous Nassau Speedweeks? Quite possibly if a group calling itself Bahamas Motorsports has its way. According to the group’s leader, Gerry Wirth, plans are afoot to build a 2.3-mile road course on the same site where the races were held from the mid-’50s to the early-’80s. Wirth claims that the government has granted a 50-year lease for the land which currently houses a quarter-mile drag strip. The group is currently looking for investment partners to secure the estimated $2.8 million needed to complete the project.
