A new event is set to launch in the spring of 2012 in the Houston, Texas area. The Concours d’Elegance of Texas will be held May 6, 2012 at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa on the shores of Lake Conroe in Montgomery. The Concours will be directed by Lolly Bezy, former Executive Director of the Meadowbrook Concours d’Elegance.
“Texas is home to many of the more notable automobile collections and there has long been a need for a premier Concours event here in the state,” said Lolly Bezy, Executive Director. “We are delighted to have established long-term agreements with La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa as our host venue, and with reputed auction company, Worldwide Auctioneers, to present The Houston Classic Auction as an integral part of the weekend. We look forward to welcoming some of the world’s greatest motorcars through our gates and to fast establishing the Concours d’Elegance of Texas as one of the most significant events on the calendar.”
La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa, situated north of downtown Houston, recently underwent a $130 million expansion and renovation. “This is the perfect setting for a premier Concours,” said resort director Al Luciano. “We look forward to helping to make the Concours d’Elegance of Texas a resounding success and to welcoming Concours visitors to the shores of Lake Conroe for many years to come.”
The inaugural Concours d’Elegance of Texas is scheduled for May 6, 2012. Interested parties are invited to contact lolly@concoursoftexas.com. For information on La Torretta Resort & Spa, visit latorrettalakeresort.com.

Unfortunately, this is the same weekend that Keels & Wheels is being held in Seabrook, about 80 miles away, on the opposite side of Houston. K&W has had that date for many years.
I hope they can work things out.
Choosing the same date may hurt both shows, it makes no sense…Stupid on the part of Lolly Beezy to make such a poor choice on the dates…
I THINK ITS SAD THE THE ONLY DATE THEY COULD COME UP WITH IS THE SAME DATE AS kEELS AND WHEEL WHICH HAS BEEN A PREMIER HOUSTON CONCOURS CHARITY EVENT FOR OVER 16 YEARS.
iT WILL BE SPECTACULAR FOR 2012 AS WELL AS A LOT OF MAJOR COLLECTORS ARE UPSET OVER THE NEW EVENT TRYING TO RUIN A MAJOR CHARITY.
FOR THE RECORD, THE SHORT TIME LOLLY BEZY WAS INVOLVED IN MEADOW BROOK, SHE WAS NOT ASKED BACK.
Not only is it sad but its stupid to try and create an event in the same general area on the same date as Keels and Wheels. I believe the Concours d’ Elegance of Texas will be a big failure in comparion to Keel and Wheels which is a well established Houston event and has a great reputation for showing beautiful cars and boats. To know that Keels and Wheel is done for a great charity makes it even better.
For Lolly Beezy to choose the same date and attempt to create a Houston event that she believes will outshine Keels and Wheels should be looked at as fruitless and ridiculous. Lolly Beezy is doing this for the money, not for the love of cars or boats. She has been unemployed from her short stint at Meadowbrook formany years now. She was not asked back for a reason. Bob Fuller runs Keels and Wheels because of his passion for his charity, cars and boats. He’s run a premier concours for over 16 years now and has been more successful each year and will continue to do so. Anyone who loves cars and boats can count on him to have a another fabulous concours in the Houston area as he does every year and his charity will continue to benefit from it. Nuff said!
I agree 100%!!!!!!
FRONT PAGE of The Courier of Montgomery County, Texas dated November 29, 2011.
HEADLINE reads *** LA TORETTA RESORT IN DEFAULT ***
As you can see, The Concours d’Elegance of Texas is off to a roaring start with it’s event site in default. The resort appears to be struggling with financial day to day issues and possibly headed for foreslosure.
To the underhanded people trying to destroy Keels and Wheels of Seabrook Texas, all I can say is, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND…
Who’s going to bother with a new show that Lolly Beezy is trying to create and run? She’s failed at past attempts and I believe this one will be no different.. A failing event site and a leader with a failed track record.
These comments are unfounded and unfair. Keels & Wheels has been struggling for years with board room turmoil, and rotating sponsors. Participants complain year after year and nothing is done to address their concerns.
I don’t see that anyone is trying to ruin anything. In fact for years people have been complaining that Keels & Wheels conflicts with another major car event in Dallas. Bob Fuller may be a nice guy, but he is in it for a paycheck too and doesn’t know a lug-nut from a carburetor.
The disinformation above about a default of the resort is also distorted. The lender has been in control of the day to day operations for two years and finally foreclosed on an absentee and indifferent owner. They appointed the current professional hotel management company who is doing a spectacular job. In fact they have now begun an additional multimillion dollar investment in improving the property.
No one seemed to care when Meadowbrook was co-opted and moved from the historic site it was founded to preserve and moved to a hotel. How about that charity?? How about all of the events at Pebble Beach, some of which conflict with each other?
The fact is that this is a spectacular venue that is car friendly in every way that the Lakewood Yacht Club is not. It is unfair to tar and feather this new event when you don’t have all of the facts, and most certainly don’t know all of the behind the scenes drama that has been on-going at Keels & Wheels for years.
P.S. If Keels & Wheels is all about charity and helping kids, why are they part of the event?????
WOW! Get your boots on people, this B.S. brings trash talk to a whole new level! So are we to assume Bob Fuller and his staff work for free? Concours d’Elegance of Texas is a 501 (c)3 charitable organization and if you want more detail on Lolly Bezy do your homework and look it up!
