• Two new venues and a return to popular historic festivals highlight Masters Historic Racing’s eight-race European calendar for 2018—including having all five Masters categories represented at the prestigious Silverstone Classic for the first time. The season commences on March 22 with a Test Day at Brands Hatch, then goes to Imola in Italy for the April 20-22 Motor Legend Festival, heads back to Brands for the Masters Historic Festival on May 26-27, ventures into the Czech Republic on June 22-24 for the Most Historic Grand Prix, turns up at Silverstone on July 20-22 for the aforementioned Classic, heads to Germany’s Nürburgring on Aug. 10-12 for the Oldtimer Grand Prix, makes a historic return to Zandvoort for the Historic Grand Prix on Aug. 31-Sept. 2, tackles Spa for the Spa Six Hour on Sept. 14-16 and wraps up the season on Oct. 12-14 with the Dijon Motors Cup on France’s Dijon-Prenois circuit.
• Officials from Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) and Peter Auto have announced an exclusive partnership that will allow both organizations to adopt a common set of rules and regulations for the premier Group C category. The new regulations got their first outing in November at HSR’s Classic 24 at Daytona presented by IMSA at Daytona International Speedway, and will be in place for all of the 2018 events staged by both organizations.
• The Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities has distributed more than $405,000 to 53 Sonoma County (California) non-profit organizations, funds raised through its charitable activities centered around Sonoma Raceway in 2017. The donations bring the total raised by SCC since 2001 to just over $6 million.
• The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving will commemorate its Golden 50th Anniversary next year with several new initiatives, including track and facility expansions and improvements. Bondurant’s school is located on the Wildhorse Pass Motorsports Park, which is in the Gila River Indian Community near Chandler, Arizona. Earlier this year Bondurant extended its lease until 2030, allowing the continuation of plans to expand the tracks and make improvements to the existing infrastructure.
