• The Jaguar XK120 that Norman Dewis drove to set the production car land speed record of 172.412 mph on Belgium’s Jabbeke Motorway in 1953 will be in competition in the “Post War Racing” class at this year’s Quail Motorsports Gathering in Carmel Valley, California, on August 16. Mr. Dewis himself will also be present at The Quail, marking his first reunion with MDU 524, the famous “Jabbeke Jag,” since he drove it on that historic day 60 years ago. The car, owned by Jeff Lotman, has recently undergone a complete restoration by UK specialists JD Classics.
• A one of a kind Ferrari has been added to the entry list for December’s third Bahamas Speed Week Revival. Andreas Mohringer will bring his unique Ferrari Dino 206P (chassis 0834) to the islands this year, the prototype having just won its class at the Villa d’Este Concorso at Lake Como. The two-liter car’s competition provenance includes a class win for Pedro Rodriguez in the final Nassau Trophy race in 1966, as well as top honors in the 1965 European Hillclimb Championship as a works entry. The Revival runs from December 4 to 8 in Nassau. For complete information visit www.bahamasspeedweekrevival.com
