The Peter Klutt Collection will be among the headline offerings at the Gooding and Company Pebble Beach 2015 auction, scheduled for August 15-16 at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center in Pebble Beach, California. The lots from the Peter Klutt Collection will be offered without reserve.
“I am thrilled to offer the Peter Klutt Collection,” said David Gooding, President of Gooding & Company.“Peter is recognized around the world for his hit show ‘Dream Car Garage.’ His vast knowledge of cars comes from years of restoring, racing, buying and selling muscle, sports, and racing cars. His keen eye for quality and originality are evident in the cars that he has chosen to sell publicly. “It is a pleasure to work with someone who is so knowledgeable and passionate about his cars. Every example will be sold without reserve to the highest bidder, which is sure to cause a sensation amongst collectors.”
The 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (Estimate Available Upon Request) will be offered without reserve. With an approximate 10,000 miles from new, this 275 GTB/4 is an original four-cam model. After being held by one family for more than 40 years, the four-cam was rediscovered and displayed at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours where it won a Second in Class award in the postwar preservation judging. It later achieved Platinum and Preservation Platinum awards at the 2014 Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach, Florida. This 275 GTB/4, finished in the color combination of dark blue exterior and tan leather interior, retains its original factory applied paint, tires, exhaust, interior and chrome.
Other Peter Klutt Collection highlights include a 1967 Ferrari Dino 206 SP (Estimate $2,600,000 – $3,000,000) and a 1966 Ford Shelby Cobra 427 (Estimate $1,200,000 – $1,400,000).
In addition, Gooding & Company also has two more postwar sports cars among its early highlights: a one-off 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort and a 1957 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk II Fixed Head Coupe available publicly for the first time since it was built nearly 60 years ago.
The 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort (Estimate $1,600,000 – $1,800,000) is one of three 959s featuring an exterior finish in Porsche Paint Code 041 – a paint-to-sample black. Additionally, it is the only one of those three with wheels painted to match, with an interior finished custom-ordered caramel brown leather – the leather even covers the knobs and vents. Maintained at Porsche Zentrum Gstaad and bearing 10 official Porsche Zentrum stamps in the original service book, it is complete with books and documents from new, service receipts and tool roll.
The 1957 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk II Fixed Head Coupe (Estimate $300,000 – $400,000) was delivered new to Southern California, where it has resided ever since. The rarest of all DB2/4 variants, the Tickford Notchback body is finished in Bottle Green with a Silver Gunmetal roof, as it left the factory in 1957. In the care of two owners, this Aston has never been comprehensively restored and has covered over 45,000 miles from new. It’s available publicly for the first time since it was built nearly 60 years ago.
The Gooding Pebble Beach 2015 auction will be staged August 15-16 at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center in Pebble Beach, California. During last year’s two-day event at Pebble Beach, Gooding & Company scored an 88% sell-through rate and realized more than $106 million, with an average price of $990,699 per car. More than 30 cars sold for over $1 million.

Why is he selling? This guy has such a good tv show
The market will likely never be better than it is now for high dollar quality investment grade vehicles. There is an expected real estate bubble coming and the same situation is likely brewing in these cars.
