Historic Sportscar Racing’s Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty presented by Hagerty returns to Road Atlanta on April 20-23, for the 40th Anniversary edition of this premier HSR event.
Porsche is this year’s featured marque and the event’s Grand Marshal, Hurley Haywood, is linked tightly to the brand. Haywood is North America’s most successful endurance racer, and his association with Porsche began more than 45 years ago. During that time he’s driven Porsches to victory five times at Daytona, three times at Le Mans and twice at Sebring.
The weekend’s racing will offer plenty of appeal for Porsche fans, with the Porsche Classic devoting two different feature races to the marque. The Mitty will also welcome the return to Road Atlanta of the HSR Classic RS Cup series, which rekindles the thrill of the original 1970s International Race of Champions (IROC) Porsche race series featuring the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RS.
This year’s Mitty is also offering Porschephiles, a road tour from the Porsche Experience Center to Road Atlanta on Friday, April 21. Presented by Michelin, the outing is limited to just 50 cars, and includes a tour of the auto manufacturer’s U.S. headquarters in Atlanta. Participants will then get to drive some of Georgia’s great back roads on the way to Road Atlanta for a parade lap of the track and dinner. Entry fee includes meals and a one-day ticket to the track, with an option to upgrade to a multi-day.
Tickets are available online now at www.HSRTickets.com and more information, entry forms and event updates can be found by visiting www.TheMitty.com.
