The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart has opened a special exhibition highlighting the company’s long and successful involvement with the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The exhibit—which opened on March 26, and will be active until July 13—recreates the appearance of the racetrack and also provides the public with its first views of the new Porsche 919 Hybrid racecar that is contesting this year’s 24 Hours.
More than 20 different racecars from the past will help tell the story of Porsche at Le Mans, and included among them will be the 1969 908/2 Longtail, the 1971 911 T/R, the 1974 911 3.0 RSR, a 1979 935, the winning 1981 936/81 Spyder, the 1994 Dauer 962 GT and the WSC LMP1 from 1998. Additional exhibits will display components and technology used in the long line of Porsches at Le Mans, as well as other relevant memorabilia.
