The 2009 Bonhams & Butterfields “Quail Lodge, Exceptional Motorcars and Automobilia featuring the Sidney H. Craig Collection and property from the Reggie Jackson Collection” will be held Friday, August 14th at the Quail Lodge Resort in Carmel, California.
Bonhams & Butterfields’ 12th annual auction, held in connection with The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering, will feature more than 100 cars. Bonhams has assembled a fabulous line-up of cars, including six cars expected to break the $1 million barrier and one that could hit $10 million.
Highlights include stunning Gangloff-bodied 1937 Bugatti Type 57S Coupe, 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale Coupe, 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series I Coupe Aerodinamico, 1933 Duesenberg Model J Torpedo Victoria Convertible, 1938 Peugeot 402 Darl’mat Legere “Special Sport” Roadster, plus the collections of Sidney Craig and Reggie Jackson.
Bonhams also features many significant race cars, including the 1939 Auto Union 3-liter ‘D-Type’ V12 Grand Prix Racing Single Seater; ex-Ecurie Belgique 1949 Talbot-Lago Type 26 Course Formula 1 Racing Car; 1952 Siata 208CS Berlinetta; ex-Jimmy Clark 1967 Vollstedt-Ford Indianapolis Racer; 1953 Porsche Roadster Typ 540 K/9-1; 1971 Lola T260 Can-Am and 1965 McLaren-Elva M1A “Cro-Sal” Special.
Bonhams’ 2008 Quail Lodge auction sold 44 of 77 cars (57%) for total sales of $21,004,800, helped by the 1960 Jaguar E2A Prototype that hammered for $4,957,000 and the 1939 Talbot-Lago T150C SS Teardrop Coupe that sold for $4,847,000. With their strong line-up, Bonhams should eclipse last year’s total, especially if the Auto Union is sold.
Admission to the Quail Lodge auction comes with purchase of a catalog for $75, which admits two people. Previews for the motorcars and automobilia will take place on Wednesday, August 12th and Thursday, August, 13th from 10:00am – 5:00pm. Please note that entry to Bonhams & Butterfields’ previews and auctions does not require a ticket to The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, which is a separate event held by Quail Lodge on Friday, August 15th.
Why did you tossers eliminate the print featureon this site?
Imagine tooling down to the local 7-11 in a Blower Bentley?
Boy, that would be fun.
We were just making sure you were paying attention…or something like that.
Print function was restored – thanks.

There’s a real Blower Bentley at this auction, not just the fake you’ve listed.
