Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV has been scheduled for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on the weekend of October 14–16, featuring a world-class collection of Porsche racing cars and many of the drivers who helped make them famous. After three previous iterations at Lime Rock and Daytona, this is the first time a Rennsport Reunion will be held on the West Coast.
“The Rennsport name has become a staple fixture for international collectors and racers over the past 10 years by providing a one-of-a-kind gathering to Porsche fans,” said Detlev von Platen, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America.
Expected to attract the cream of the Porsche crop from historic racing, Rennsport Reunion IV will showcase cars ranging from 550 Spyders through the iconic 917s and 956/962 series to the more recent RS Spyders, as well as the myriad versions of the 911 series, among others. The weekend will also include a round of the Pirelli Drivers Cup for drivers of Porsche 996 and 997 GT3 Cup Cars from 2000 through 2011.
“For sports car racing enthusiasts and Porsche fans in particular, Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV will provide a sensory experience unlike any other event,” commented raceway CEO Gill Campbell. “With the event being held just every three years, and previously only on the East Coast, you can be assured that Porsche Cars North America is going all out to bring a phenomenal show in October to the Monterey Peninsula.”
Complementing Rennsport Reunion IV will be the previously announced Porsche Race Car Classic, an exclusive invitation-only Concours d’Elegance at nearby Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley on Sunday, October 16. This gathering of rare Porsche racecars from the early years of 1950–1965 will raise funds to support lung cancer research. Additional information is available at www.2011PorscheRaceCarClassic.com.
