On February 3, 2023, Artcurial Motorcars team will proudly present one of the ultimate masterpieces of Automobile history, a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM that will offered on auction at Salon Retromobile 2023.
The Ferrari 250 LM is rarer and even more exclusive than the famed Ferrari 250 GTO and chassis #5901 is the 10th car out of only 32 examples to be produced in the Maranello factory. The auction is also a great chance for Artcurial Motorcars to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the model.
With Masten Gregory and Jochen Rindt back in 1965, the 250 LM is the last Ferrari model to claim victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours, cementing its legendary status in the International Motorsport history.
In 1966, chassis #5901 was entered by NART as a reserve car in the Daytona 24 Hours. It is one of the only two 250 LMs to never have been part of an active competition, enabling it to keep all its original elements from the chassis, gearbox, engine, and body.
Since rolling out of the production floor, it has always been in the hands of great American collectors which includes Massimo Ferragamo. In 1997, chassis #5901 crossed the Atlantic to be part of a European collection. It was then given a restoration by renowned British specialist DK Engineering where they completely respected the originality of the example.
For twenty years, it has been in the custody of the same French owner, and starting February 1, it will be put on display at the Salon Retromobile, just ahead of the sales happening from February 3 to 5.
Director Artcurial Motorcars Matthieu Lamoure shared, “The Ferrari 250 LM represents the perfect balance between aesthetics and efficiency of performance. To take this masterpiece of Art to the firmament of international auctions is an honour for me and my team.”
Retromobile 2023 will run from February 3 to 4, 2023 at the Paris Expo – Porte de Versailles.
