As a teenager in the ’70s, Cole was the top Excalibur salesman in the country.
VR: So, let’s go back to ground zero, if you will. How did you first get involved with cars?
RC: It was pretty much an accident for the most part. My mother had known a fellow from Chicago by the name of Bill Victor for years, and it’s funny in a way because they were actually engaged at one point but didn’t marry. But they remained good friends. Years went by, he got married, had a son, the son grew up and we became pals. While I was in high school, Bill Victor moved to Los Angeles and decided to open up a classic car store in Santa Monica called Automotive Classics. It was one of the first classic car showrooms ever in the country.
