Fourteen vintage racecar run groups have been set for next summer’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, set for August 17-20, 2017, at California’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, which opened in November 1957 and is celebrating its 60th season of operation in 2017.
“We are planning to celebrate this iconic facility by remembering key Moments in Time,” said Gill Campbell, CEO and general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “Stay tuned for even greater surprises, as we roll out additional announcements in the coming weeks.”
Returning to the Reunion for the first time since 2013 are cars from the Formula Junior class (above, Brad Fox photo) that raced between 1958 and 1963, and which will be celebrating its Diamond Jubilee international tour with two separate run groups to accommodate the large numbers of cars expected to enter.
Each car will be assessed on its authenticity, race provenance and the historical accuracy of its mechanical preparation and livery, a strict code of authenticity that is a distinguishing feature of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. The entry request process continues through January 31, 2017 and is conducted exclusively online at www.MazdaRaceway.com. Last year, more than 1,000 submissions were received for the 550 available entry slots.
The full list of run groups follows, as well as that for the prior weekend’s “Pre-Reunion.” For complete information please visit www.MazdaRaceway.com
