Historic Sportscar Racing staged the second running of its Classic 12 Hours at Sebring, Pistons and Props, presented by the Alan Jay Automotive Network, last weekend, December 1-3, at Florida’s Sebring International Raceway, bringing down the curtain on its 2017 racing season. The event uniquely combines vintage sportscar racing with a full “fly-in” and display of historic military and civilian aircraft from the last half century and beyond.
On the fabled runways of the Sebring circuit, cars competing in the Classic 12 Hours were split into four run groups, each with four races over the weekend, and each also including several classes. A list of Group and Class winners, based on cumulative scores, follows, but the overall Group winners were: Andrew Beaumont and Nigel Greensall who drove their 1966 McLaren M1B to victory in Group A; Ryan Harrold and Kevin Wheeler who captured Group B honors with their 1979 Chevron B23/36; Juan Gonzalez and Butch Leitzinger who claimed Group C with their 2007 Pescarolo 01-Judd; and Rich Thomas, who brought his 2015 Radical SR3/RSX home first in Group D.
All of the Run Group victors were presented with custom-made HSR Classic 12 Hour-edition B.R.M. Chronographes watches. A listing of the class and group winners follows below, and for further information please visit www.hsrrace.com
