Unbelievable as it may seem, the Ferrari 250 GTO was designed by Sergio Scaglietti in just over two weeks. Il Commendatore himself, Enzo Ferrari, had a strong degree of personal input in the final design. Because there were no drawings, each car was a unique product of the particular craftsman. Purpose- built for competition, each 250 GTO reflected the personal needs and tastes of each owner.
The unmistakable bark comes from a 3-liter V12 engine, topped by six Weber twin-choke carburetors, pumping out 300 bhp at 7500 rpm. The nose features on this car include three radiator air intakes, driving lights, circular brake cooling intakes, recessed indicators and, of course, the Cavallino Rampante within the radiator opening. This GTO (chassis number 4115 GT) is in repose amidst the foothills of Tuscany.
