What’s better than a free day at the race track? Not much we suspect, and on Thursday March 23, competitors intending to contest this year’s 27th Silverstone Classic, set for July28-30, will get just that. With entry for the actual event in July expected to top 1,000 cars, track time will be at a premium, and those who can take advantage of the no-cost Media Preview Day sessions on March 23 will get an extra opportunity to dial in their cars on Silverstone’s full Grand Prix circuit.
The packed Classic program features the full spectrum of historic motor sport, and this summer’s added highlights will include a special celebration to mark 50 years of Formula Ford as well as a star-studded celebrity race.
“We introduced free testing at the Media Preview as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations in 2015, as we wanted to give something back to all those competitors who play such an important role in making the Classic the huge success it is today,” explained Nick Wigley, CEO of event organizer Goose Live Events. “The offer proved so popular that we repeated it last year and we are doing so again in 2017.”
Understandably, the chance for free testing at Silverstone has proved highly popular, and event organizers are once again expecting the limited number of available places to be snapped up swiftly. Entries will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis, and application forms are available via the official event website at www.silverstoneclassic.com
