Next summer’s Silverstone Classic will again feature more than eight decades of glittering motor sport history, given the return of the acclaimed Kidston Trophy for Pre-War Sports Cars to the on-track schedule for 2017.
The inaugural Kidston Trophy was a popular addition to the Classic’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in 2015, boasting more than 50 attention-grabbing entries dating back to the dawn of circuit racing. That enthralling spectacle featured such legendary marques as Alvis, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Frazer Nash, Invicta and Lagonda, and it will be repeated on Saturday morning at the 2017 Classic.
Given all those different marques, it was the sight of a dozen iconic Bentleys that really caught the imagination of the 100,000 festival goers two years ago, and rightly so, as the Kidston Trophy honors Glen Kidston, one of the original “Bentley Boys” from the late 1920s.
The return of the Kidston Trophy is just one of the many on-track highlights set for the 2017 Silverstone Classic. Full details can be found by visiting www.silverstoneclassic.com
