For the second year in a row, Car and Driver has added the Subaru BRZ in their 10Best Cars list.
Subaru of America, Inc. recently announced that the Subaru BRZ was given the award by Car and Driver for embracing the concept of “enough”. Car and Driver described the Subaru BRZ as “utterly wonderful – it’s light, sharp, unfiltered, and inexpensive. Long may it remain so. We don’t need anything more.”
Nominees for the 10Best Cars are all-new vehicles, 2022 10Best winners, those that were not available for the 2022 competition, and those that were given significant upgrades. Other criteria is that it must not go beyond the base price limit of $110,000, and it has to already be on sale by January 31, 2023.
For a whole week, every new car that met those criteria were tested and the editors had a scale from zero to 100 to judge the cars. They then removed the low scores and averaged the scores remaining to get the 10Best Cars of 2023.
Subaru of America, Inc., President and CEO Thomas J. Doll shared, “Car and Driver is a legendary automotive publication, and we are honored that their experts again recognized the performance and value of the second generation BRZ. This accolade helps solidify our goal of providing customers with a pure sports car embedded with Subaru DNA.”
At the heart of the 2023 Subaru BRZ is a 228 hp 2.4-liter naturally aspirated SUBARU BOXER® engine matched to a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission or a six-speed electronic direct-control automatic transmission. Currently available at Subaru retailers nationwide, the second-generation BRZ have two trim levels: Premium and Limited. It has a starting price of $28,595.
