A life-size statue of John Surtees, the only man to have won the World Championship on two and four wheels, was unveiled at Mallory Park in the U.K. on July 14, as a tribute to the great motorcycle and Formula One star.
Surtees was in humble mode as Sir Jack Brabham and Honda engineer Kowamoto recalled Surtees’ accomplishments in front of several hundred family members, friends and admirers. Chris Meek, ex-racer and owner of Mallory Park, commissioned the likeness to join similar ones of Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna.
