The Donington Grand Prix Collection was the venue for a glittering “Tribute to Ayrton Senna” Dinner Party, at which FIA Medical Delegate, professor Sid Watkins OBE, received the Tom Wheatcroft Trophy from current holder Murray Walker OBE.
The trophy, inspired and commissioned by Tom’s son, Kevin as a tribute to his father’s commitment to motorsport, is presented each year to an individual who has made a similar commitment to the sport. Professor Watkins has, for more than 20 years, acted as senior medical officer at all Grands Prix and has made a significant contribution to motorsport safety.
