Gooding & Company will hold its Scottsdale Auction event on January 17th, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Gooding has assembled approximately 100 cars for its 2nd annual Scottsdale auction, headlined by the 1937 Talbot-Lago T150 C SS Tear Drop Coupe, 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, 1932 Daimler 40/50 Double Six Sport Saloon, 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Alloy Competizione and 1931 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Sedan. Estimates for these five featured cars are all “available upon request,” which is auction speak for way up there.
Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale Auction event will be held at the Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday, January 17th, 2009. Full day previews will be held on Thursday, January 15th and Friday, January 16th. Doors open on January 17th at 8:30am, with the auction starting at 11am. Admission to this sale can be accomplished by purchasing the auction catalog for $75, which will admit two, or with individual $30 tickets.

1937 Talbot-Lago T150 C SS Tear Drop Coupe – Estimate Available Upon Request. Considered by many to be the most original and correct Figoni et Falaschi Tear Drop Coupe, chassis number 90105 has a storied history that includes competition and ownership by Tommy Lee and Brooks Stevens.
1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder – Estimate Available Upon Request. Offered without reserve, this very original, matching-numbers and covered headlight California Spyder has been out of the public for 30 years. Interestingly, Sports Car Digest featured this very car as one of our Classified Ads from the Past.
1932 Daimler 40/50 Double Six Sport Saloon – Estimate Available Upon Request. The 1999 Pebble Beach Concours Best of Show winner should command top dollar, as its extensively documented past, coupled with a graceful, yet imposing style will bring out the big guns. What a stunning presence.

I do not think i have ever saw 2 cars that are simply as stunning as the 1937 Talbot-Lago T150 C SS Tear Drop Coupe & the 1932 Daimler 40/50 Double Six Sport Saloon. They should bring a very nice price for both of the cars. Simply stunning automobiles.
We are very excited to see them in person next week. Both are spectacular cars and we’re sure that you are correct about the price.
The Daimler is my dream.

There is a split vote here on our favorite, with the Daimler and Ferrari 250 GT SWB Comp taking the most votes. It doesn’t hurt that the Daimler photo is good enough to be made into a poster.

From a very quick glance the Daimlar 40/50 was a Bugatti Royale as the coachwork is very similar.Some of cars that appeared at auction were beautiful and its about time that prices of on some of Pre-war Exotics and the the High Performance Cars surpass the crazy prices that have taken place at Barrett-Jackson.
Pre-war cars accounted for 7 out of the top 10 sellers during Arizona Auction Week (https://dev.sportscardigest.com/archives/2834) and for good reason.
The Daimler had a very special look and feel to it, although we were a little disappointed with its purple interior. It was interesting, but didn’t fit our perception of the car.
