Welcome to the eclectic world of The Vintage Sports-Car Club and its unique competition the Pomeroy Trophy, or the ‘Pom’ as it is known. It is an annual event held in February and is open to all types of cars and motorcycles.
Originally conceived by Laurence Pomeroy, writer of the famous Grand Prix Car books, the Pom was first held in 1952 and this year’s event was the 67th running. Pomeroy’s original idea was to find the most efficient vehicle through a series of tests – slalom, acceleration, braking and top speed over a measured distance. Finally, each car competes in a 40-minute, high speed trial on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. A complicated formula is applied to each car’s performance and the result is the winner of the Pomeroy Trophy for the year. This year’s event, held Feb. 25, 2023, was won by the Subaru Imprezza driven by John Felstead.
