In 1992, Tim Harvey won the British Touring Car Championship. His lengthy driving career has spanned three decades and he’s still at the “sharp end” today. Motor sport fans in the UK will know him for his commentary on the ITV network coverage of the BTCC, but not too many will know him for the work he does assisting young drivers in climbing the ladder to achieve their ultimate goal in motor racing. VR’s European Editor, Mike Jiggle, took time to talk to Harvey about those things as well as the role and significance of the British Racing Drivers Club for today’s drivers.
I don’t suppose I have to remind you, but it’s now been 25 years since you won the BTCC Drivers Championship. Before we look at that, how did the motor racing bug bite?
