The only Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM (Competizione Maggiorata) Pininfarina Superflow IV ever made will be shown for the very first time in the UK at Salon Privé during the Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance, August 31-September 2 at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock.
The car (chassis 00128) is the fourth iteration of Pininfarina’s design work with this specific car when converting it from racing to road usage, which explains the “Superflow IV” sobriquet. Incorporating the key features of the first three variants, Superflow IV was first displayed at the 1960 Geneva Motor Show, where a new domed Plexiglas roof debuted that allowed the car to be either open or closed, as the roof panels were designed to slide down and back beneath the rear window.
This car was built to impress the public wherever it went, and now it will be making its way from a significant collection in the United States to the lawns of Blenheim Palace.
“Salon Privé to be chosen as the first Concours event in the UK for this illustrious and influential car to be shown is a huge honor,” said Andrew Bagley, Salon Privé Managing Director and Concours Chairman. “One of the most important Alfa Romeos of its era, and a large part of the marque’s and Pininfarina’s history, I am sure that it will attract the attention of enthusiasts from all over the world.”
