Due to the recent passing of founding member Jean Argetsinger, the International Motor Racing Research Center has rescheduled the remembrance of 15 racers enshrined on the Walk of Fame at Watkins Glen. The event’s original date was to be January 21, but it will now be moved to Saturday, February 18 as IMRRC historian Bill Green kicks off the annual Center Conversations speaker series.
Green will examine he careers of 15 racers honored with places on the Watkins Glen Drivers Walk of Fame, joined in the discussion by fellow committee members Jim Scaptura and Rick Hughey. The spotlighted drivers will be Joakim Bonnier, Bob Bucher, Sam Collier, Roberto Guerrero, Walt Hansgen (pictured), Graham Hill, Tommy Hoan, Davy Jones, Sir Stirling Moss, Roger Penske, Sam Posey, Brian Redman, David Saville Peck, John Surtees and Lyn St. James.
The Watkins Glen Drivers Walk of Fame was established by the Historic Racing Committee, the Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce and Watkins Glen International in 1993 to honor racers who have competed at The Glen since 1948. The program will commence at 1 p.m. and is open to all, with a $5 donation requested to help defray costs. The Racing Research Center is located at 610 S. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, New York.
