The Monterey Pre-Historics are held annually at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca the weekend prior to the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races.
The Pre-Historics are generally designed to give Historic entrants, many of whom have never raced on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, track time before the green flag drops the following weekend. Since the paddock and track is largely free of spectators, it also allows drivers to ease into the flow of the track and their race car without 30,000 fans watching their every move. And of course, veteran drivers welcome the opportunity for even more track time and their mechanics appreciate the extra time to get the car dialed in.
In addition to our Dennis Gray Photo Gallery, photographer Bob Ross produced many great shots from last weekend’s racing action, including the mighty Auto Union D-Type driven by Alain Decadenet.
